We Are Dunn Strong

Dear Dunn Parents and Concerned Citizens,

We need your urgent attention and action! The future of Dunn Elementary School is uncertain, and we can’t afford to stay silent.

Of the consolidation options, two involve closing Dunn Elementary. But these options are not final and there is still time to make a difference.

For more background information on the PSD Steering Committee, please visit: Facilities Planning Steering Committee.

Our school cannot be replicated; it is one of a kind. Let’s stand together and show our commitment to our children’s future and our community.

How to Get Involved

1. Sign Up for a Listening Session

Please add your name if you would like to attend and take part in any of the listening sessions or upcoming board meetings. We want Dunn to be well-represented at these. Updates will be provided ahead of each meeting so everyone feels prepared. Board of Education meetings are especially important because many Board members may not be at the Listening Sessions, and they will be the final decision makers.

The majority of the meetings are taking place the week of 3/25 (this week!). The Facilities Planning Steering Committee will be taking input from these meetings to build the final scenarios that go to vote, and participation is a critical way to let others know what Dunn is all about and to show our support!

Upcoming Listening Sessions:
  • Monday March 25: 11:30am-1:30pm ITC Aspen 1 and 2 @ PSD Support Services Complex
  • Monday March 25: 6-8pm Rocky Mountain HS
  • Wednesday March 27: 6pm-7pm on Zoom
  • Thursday March 28: 5:30pm-7:30pm Lincoln Middle School
  • Thursday April 4: 6pm-8pm Future Ready Center @ Suite 510 in the Foothills Mall
    • This session will be geared toward Spanish-speaking individuals. Spanish interpreters will be available.
  • Monday, April 15: 5:30-7:30 p.m @ University Village Center, 1600 W. Plum St.
    • This session will be geared toward Arabic-speaking individuals. We will update with more information as it becomes available.
  • Tuesday April 16: 5:30pm-10pm PHS (Board of Education) @ Poudre High School Auditorium, 201 S. Impala Drive
  • Tuesday June 4: 5:30pm-10pm FCHS (Board of Education)
More Upcoming Events:
  • Student Engagement Session
Monday, April 1, 5:30pm @ Dunn Elementary School Gym
If your student would like to be part of this session with Steering Committee Members, here’s some more info – Students will split into smaller groups to speak with members of the Steering Committee. Adults will go with their students, but will not be a part of the conversation (students will be speaking). Students are encouraged to bring letters or drawings of their thoughts if they wish (this is not necessary). If your child cannot attend this event, they are welcome to drop off letters or drawings to the front office.
  • PTO Meeting
Thursday, April 4, 6:00-8:00pm (Location TBD)
Our Dunn PTO is holding an extra meeting next week to help answer questions. If you haven’t submitted your questionnaire yet, this would be a great time to ask any questions before submitting your feedback to the Steering Committee.

2. Fill Out the Facilities Planning Steering Committee Questionnaire

Share your voice in the questionnaire for the Facilities Planning Steering Committee. Each individual can provide their feedback in this questionnaire. Responses will be considered by the Committee as they build the final scenarios that go to vote.

  • Would you potentially leave the district if Dunn is consolidated? They should hear that.
  • Would your family be in significant hardship if forced to attend a neighborhood school further away? Let them know!
  • Do you attend Dunn for reasons specific to our location, services, and/or programming that is offered? Tell them what Dunn provides for your family and what you fear will not be available elsewhere.
  • Do you have ideas for alternatives that you think would benefit the district more? Give them your plan!

The survey close has been EXTENDED to Wednesday, April 17th, at 5pm. Your voice is critical to this process.

  • Scenario A or A2 do not include Dunn!

3. Sign the Dunn Community Letter of Support

We have written a DUNN COMMUNITY LETTER OF SUPPORT that will be sent directly to the Planning Committee, the Board of Education, and our Superintendent. Our goal is to get hundreds of signatures to show our support for Dunn! We will have folks collecting signatures after school beginning Friday, 3/22, and early next week before and after school for anyone who would like to add their name to the signatures. Note that this letter can be signed by any parents, staff, or students who would like to be included.

  • The Community Letter of Support has been submitted. Thank you to everyone who signed!
